One for the boys
The average mens suit has anywhere from 7 to 12 pockets. I’ve always wondered why they have any pockets at all. Every Style Guru worth his or her salt knows that suit pockets aren’t really meant to holding anything.
Of course you can put things in them and those items will remain in tact. It’s the suit you have to worry about. Suit pockets, deep to their core, are simply esthetically pleasing to look at. The shape and form of a quality designer suit is intended to look exactly like it’s made. It’s not made bearing twelve bulges.
Overstuffing suit pockets will certainly lead to a suit looking stretch out of shape, droopy and the penultimate result, looking of poor quality. All in all, leaving a less than suitable impression of the bearers personal style.
As a general rule, when wearing a suit limit what you carry to the thing most crucial to your needs; A credit card. And it should be placed within the inside pocket or your suit jacket. There it will rest with room to move freely and at no risk to creating any unwanted creases in your designer suit.
If you’re the type of person that can’t manage with only a credit card, then store your stuff in your overcoat. If you don’t have an overcoat, then ask your wife to put those things in her purse. If you don’t have a wife, get one. The point is, your suit will remain looking pristine, like the day you paid a small fortune for it, if it’s cleaned properly and the pockets are never used. If the pockets absolutely must be used, one should remain mindful the pockets on the outside of a suit jacket should never be used to store any items.
Remain true to the Style Guru in you. The pants pocket can provide excellent storage, however it should only be used if a suit jacket will constantly be worn as well as that will conveniently coverup the ghastly bulge resulting from thick wallets or awkward car keys. Again, as necessity dictates and depending upon the cut of the trousers, money clips and small cellphones should create little bulk and bulge in the front pants pockets and all and all, the number one safest location out of a possible twelve.
When it comes to Style or even Swagg in “all things Photograpy”, one guy always comes to mind; Michael Grecco. Whether digital or analog, this guy’s got it covered.
We first experienced Michael’s work ages ago while paying designer Hecking a social visit, whom we’d shot weeks before at her home in Berlin, Germany. On her table was a photo book by Michael Grecco. After being completely distracted and moved by his wonderful work, Style TV’s been big fans ever since.
We just got such a kick out of this neat idea. We’d seen it only once before with Jamaican Model LaRel. Always cool.
Photography and Film. I’m sure you’ll find something that strikes a chord in you as well.
Cooking Meat With Style
There are surely many ways to cook a steak, or meat in general. I think we all know that and if you didn’t you do now. Arguably, there are a handful of folks around the globe that we know about who seem to have a magic touch when it comes to satisfying carnivores of all ethnic persuasions. One of those lads is none other than Jack O’Shea.
Single Girls Rule The World
Welcome to 2010! Not just a new year but a brand new decade and I want to start 2010 with StyleTV praising all the stylishly powerful, single Guru’s out there! 🙂 Here’s to you!
There are many factors that have influenced why single women have decided to take control and lead their own lives. Everything from the rising cost of living to the lack of jobs has forced women to become more independent and influential talk Show hosts like Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and the View have also changed things for the better.
Regardless of whether you’re single or happily hooked up, women are taking the bull by the balls (or is it horns?) and not waiting for a man to determine the outcomes of their happiness. Nothing against you men of course! I love all you stylish wannabe gurus out there and I think every woman should own one. 🙂
Are we so entrenched in tradition that automatically assumes a young woman must marry by a certain age, have pop out a few munchkins, and follow in the foot steps of our parents and grand parents? Tough question and I know the answer depends on the individual. Before deciding, keep in mind the success or failures of our families relationships and that should give you more than a clue of what the hell to do. I for one, am no fan of contractual relationships, ha!
Just because you’re single doesn’t have to signify a transition period between finding your next partner. It’s okay to just BE SINGLE. Frankl, its the best time to do all the stylish things you’ve been putting of doing! Try rebuilding yourself to a new level. Or get on that project your last relationships for one reason or another prevented you from doing.
Take Sex and The City for example. It celebrates liberated women who showcase the highs and lows of single life. With the exception of terminally horny Samantha, the rest of the single gals were always on the look out for ‘the one’ and seemed to feel lost in the big city, or incomplete without a man. Stylistically speaking, I tend to lean more towards Samantha. Hm, now that I think about it, maybe I’m terminally horny too.
Thank Goddess women today (at least in my LA world) are much more accepted living a lifestyle that until recently was only acceptable for men. In the not-so-recent past, it was quite acceptable for men to be free and single, but a single woman past the age of 30 was considered “expired” by many outdated thinkers. Hell, compared to my mom’s generation, I’m a royal slut! Their just jealous and old. It sure was fun earning the title.
Speaking of earnings, women are earning as much money as men and we’re business owners, filling executive career positions and running shit. And all that with Style! Hm, a new Style TV tee shirt perhaps? “Running Shit With Style”, LOL!
You won’t just hear it here folks. Many online journals for women’s tell us that single girls are well travelled, more experienced and that equals being happy and satisfied by the time we decide to settle down with one lucky, stylish, guru like you! That sure beats being forced by society to marry and have children by age 25. No wonder the divorce rate far exceeds successful marriages. Hello?
I’ll say it again, “Single girls rule the world.”
A Blast To The Past
Some might argue (because they have nothing better to do) however I for one love the classic and sexy style of the 60’s and some 70’s. Fashion and style were clearly a different animal back then yet so many people strive to find the ‘retro’ in themselves. I know I have and with great success. Here’s a story from the NY Times which I find well worth reading.
Collabo Painting Style
This collaborative animation between artists Blu and David Ellis is simply remarkable. I’m blown away when noticing there are so many moments where something occurs in the likes which I have never seen before. I’ll bet you’ll see something fresh for your eyes as well.
Can it be true? Will the next generations be freed of the grey hair curse? Thats why I like to keep my hair as blond as possible, then you can’t see a grey hair anywhere, ha!
However for all the dark haired beauties out there, you’re the first ones to be outted, ha! Actually, stats show that on average, caucasians notice their first grey hair at 34. Asians at 39 and those of African decent notice their first grey at 44.
Many people have a downright problem with their grayness and fight against it like the devil. As for me, worst case I’ll shave my head. I’ll still look fabulous! Click to learn more!
Fix It With Style
I’m sure you’ve heard of the old expression “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, I guess it’s safe to say if it is broke then fix it with style! Thanks to Melissa for turning us on to these funny shots!
